Resurfacing with a real healing period
CO₂ laser is ablative: it removes treated skin tissue. Fractional and full-field approaches differ. Ask which approach is proposed and why it fits selected texture, scar or wrinkle concerns.
A stronger treatment does not automatically mean a better choice. Significant recovery, wound care and possible prolonged redness make this different from a facial or a less-ablative laser visit.
Preparation starts before treatment
Our clinician-directed preparation may begin at least two weeks before CO₂ treatment, depending on assessment. The actual plan may address pigment risk, cold sores, skincare and sun exposure. Do not use another person’s prescription or stop prescribed medicine on your own.
Share skin tone, tanning, pigment changes, immune or healing conditions, medicines and earlier procedures. People with a history of post-inflammatory pigmentation need particular care. Suitability cannot be established online.
Recovery, pigment and scar risks
Possible complications include infection, burns, scarring, persistent redness and darker or lighter pigment. Ask about individualized wound care, follow-up and what changes require contact.
Plan around outdoor exposure, work, exercise and events. Surface healing is not necessarily the end of visible redness. Contact the treating team about worsening pain, spreading redness, discharge or unexpected healing; eye symptoms or a medical emergency need urgent care.
